The Aviemore and Glenmore areas are probably the most visited places for walkers in the whole of the Cairngorms National Park area with dozens of walks and trails for all
abilities, and it’s easy to see why, with a choice from snowcapped mountain walks to simple fun trails around nature reserves and lochans.
Around Aviemore itself, there are a couple of interesting walks, which include the marked trails in the Craigellachie Nature Reserve known for its population of Peregrine Falcons who nest high on the crags. However, it’s on the outskirts of the village where you will find some walking gems on the Rothiemurchus Estate or on the lands managed by the Forestry Commision at Glenmore.
